General Information

IKEA offers a wide range of inspiration ideas and products for your home. The IKEA Gift Account allows you total freedom and flexibility to choose whatever you like from the IKEA range. We’ll provide the gift card and the inspiration, the rest is up to you.
Our service is completely free, no hidden costs, no commission and no postage charges! 100% free of charge to use! In the event of an account balance being below £40, there may be a small delivery charge or change to method of delivery that will be discussed at the point of account closure.
Anyone can use the IKEA Gift Account. If you have something to celebrate then we can handle your gift list! You can use the service to manage Gift Accounts for all sorts of events including weddings, civil partnerships, birthdays, anniversaries, engagements etc. We just ask that the event holder is either over the age of 18, or if under the age of 18, that they have permission to use the service from their parent or legal guardian. If you are based outside of the UK, you can still use the IKEA Gift Account service. All payments to load the IKEA Gift Cards and the subsequent balance is in GBP currency. This is dynamically converted at the till when making your purchases, should you wish to spend the balance in stores outside of the UK. Gift cards can generally be bought in one country and used in another country. The exchange value will be automatically calculated in the IKEA iPay system with the valid local exchange rate. There are a few exceptions which you can see below. Gift cards can be bought and redeemed in all stores in these countries: Australia*, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Spain**, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom & USA. * except the stores in Adelaide & Perth **except the stores in Lanzarote, Tenerife, Mallorca & Gran Canaria Gift cards CANNOT be bought/redeemed across stores in these countries: Australia: (Adelaide & Perth), Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Israel, Kuwait, Lithuania, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spanish Islands, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey & United Arab Emirates. • To check the balance of an IKEA Gift Card, visit or call any IKEA store. • No cash change will be given on purchases made using a Gift Cards. • Gift cards cannot be returned or refunded, except in accordance with your legal rights. The balance cannot be converted into cash. • The value on the card(s) cannot be used to pay credit card or IKEA Business account balances. • The balance on the card(s) can be controlled at any IKEA store, or by the phone via the Contact Centre. • The card(s) remain the property of IKEA UK and Ireland Ltd, and may not be tampered or interfered with, without our consent. • Gift card(s) can be used as a complete or partial payment in all the above IKEA stores including online. • There are no limitations on how many times a card(s) can be used (until the balance is £0.00). • The card(s) have no expiration date. • If card(s) are found, please return to the nearest IKEA store. • IKEA is unable to replace card(s) if lost or stolen. PLEASE NOTTE: IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO RELOAD A GIFT CARD IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY TO WHERE IT WAS ORIGINALLY ISSUED! International customers will receive their IKEA Gift Cards by post using international Airmail. These Gift Cards will be sent unloaded and the recipient must contact the IKEA Gift Account admin team via email or phone to confirm delivery. Once delivery is confirmed, the IKEA Gift Card will be loaded with the account balance so it can be spent in-store.
During the registration process there is an option for you to donate up to 10% of your final account value to a charity. We arrange payment to the charity by sending you a cheque made out to the relevant charity. This will be sent with your Gift Card when you close your account. We will provide a stamped addressed envelope for you to send the cheque to the chosen charity and a compliments slip for you to confirm to the charity that you are the parties making the donation. You can set up your account without the charity donation option and decide to add it at a later stage by making changes via your dashboard. However, once you have decided to include a charity donation, you cannot change this option after the first sum has been pledged to your account. This is because your guests have been informed that a proportion of their gift will go to your chosen charity. Please note that we will only issue charity donations for £10 or more. If your total charity donation is for less than £10, it will automatically be added to your final account balance.
No, IKEA Gift Cards do not have an expiry date.
Guests can make contributions online by accessing your webpage via the URL and Event ID that you will have provided them with. If the guest has lost or forgotten the login details then they can do a simple search on the site to find the Gift Account by event name, list holder name, or by venue. Alternatively they can make a contribution over the phone with our team of friendly and helpful staff. If you have chosen to password protect access to your homepage your guests will need to be provided with this password in order to make a contribution online but they can make a contribution over the phone without it.
Yes, the site can accept gifts from overseas guests. As long as all mandatory fields are filled in on the order page and their type of card is one that we accept then that’s fine. Please note that all payments and gift cards will be in GBP.
You will need to set up the Gift List before you send out invitations. If you are using the IKEA Gift Account for a wedding, it is usual to send out wedding invitations about three months before the wedding. However you can set up the Gift Account at any time, it’s completely up to you, just as long as you have ample time to communicate with your guests.
You can set up your account without the charity donation option and decide to add it at a later stage by making changes via your dashboard. No, your Gift Account total will be available on an IKEA Gift Card only - we will not exchange it for cash.
No. The final Gift Account will be loaded on to an IKEA Gift Card, so you will have complete flexibility to choose from any products available instore. You can choose to feature inspirational images from our 'Ideas' image library. This will give your guests an idea of how you will ultimately spend the IKEA Gift Card.

Gift Card List Management

After the initial 20 second registration process your homepage is ready to use although you'll probably want to personalise it before making it available to your friends and family. You'll receive a confirmation email providing you with your bespoke web address and links to the control panel allowing you to edit your homepage. Once you're happy with the look and feel, use our free stationery to inform friends and family how to access and use your Gift Account.
Absolutely! Not only can a personal message be left but you can also upload up to 4 images, either from our photo library or from your own personal photos. You can also add as much or as little information about your event as you wish; including venue, dates, times and dress code. This is the major advantage of having an online Gift List. We understand that it’s difficult to get the etiquette right when choosing to have a gift list which is why we have made the IKEA Gift Account as customisable as possible so you can address the topic of gifts hopefully without feeling cheeky or impolite. You can also edit any details at any time from the "My homepage" section on your dashboard.
We can supply you with invitation inserts that provide all the information your guests will need in order to visit your page and contribute to your Gift Account. The inserts also display our telephone number so if your guests prefer, they can arrange the contribution over the phone. Remember that if you set a password for your guests to access your Gift Account then you will need to include that on the insert so they can enter it when making a contribution online. If your guests choose to order over the phone they will not be asked for the password.
Yes, you can view the total contributed to your account by viewing 'My Account Report' from your dashboard. We also update you, if you wish, via email when any additions are made to the list to keep you completely up to date with the contents of your list.
An automated email is sent to you when additions are made to your Gift Account. This informs you when a contribution has been made to your account. You can view the running total of your account from the 'My Reports' section. You also have the option to include a second contact who can also be notified of new contributions. If you would prefer not to know the total until you close you Gift Account, you can choose to switch all gift notifications off.
The Gift Account can be closed at anytime with no charge. Simply select "Claim my Gift" from the dashboard page once you have logged in. If the account has contributions on it, we will contact you in order to organise the delivery of your IKEA Gift Card.
You can close your Gift Account whenever you like but we recommend leaving it open for a couple of weeks after your event to ensure that guests have ample opportunity to make a contribution. Just log into your account then at the dashboard select "Claim my Gift".
In most instances, once we have received notification of the closure we will contact you to confirm delivery details. If you close the account before 2pm on a working day (Monday to Thursday) and we have been able to contact you before 2pm on that day then the Gift Card will be sent out that same day. Gift Cards are delivered by Royal Mail Special Delivery and should arrive before 1pm on the next working day and will need a signature upon arrival. If you close the account on a Friday we cannot guarantee Saturday delivery as Royal Mail does not deliver to all areas on Saturdays. If your account balance is less than £100 we will send the gift card using Royal Mail recorded delivery. If you do not wish to have the Gift Card sent for the next day you can specify an alternative convenient date. UK based recipients will receive their IKEA Gift Card loaded with value and ready to spend in-store or on-line. International customers will receive their IKEA Gift Cards by post using international Airmail. These Gift Cards will be sent unloaded and the recipient must contact the IKEA Gift Account admin team via email or phone to confirm delivery. Once delivery is confirmed, the IKEA Gift Card will be loaded with the account balance so it can be spent in-store. We can also send the gift card using First Class post with the gift card unloaded should that be an easier than a signed for postage option. In the event of an account balance being below £40, there may be a small delivery charge or change to method of delivery that will be discussed at the point of account closure.

Payment & Security

No. Your guests will not be able to see how much other guests have contributed.
No, your guests will only be charged for the value they have given. So, if they give you £100, you will receive £100 and they pay £100 with no additional fees. There are no fees for either the list holders or for the guests pledging money. We do not even charge delivery when the Gift Card is sent once the Account is closed. International customers may incur a charge for currency conversions or other bank charges by their issuing bank, not the IKEA Gift Account service. Please check with your bank if this might affect your purchase.
To contribute an IKEA Gift Account, you just need to select the relevant event and then follow the instructions on screen. All we need is name, address, value of contribution, payment details and a personalised message. If you would prefer to place an order by telephone, please call 0871 200 0645 (Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm).
The value pledged to your IKEA Gift Account by guests is held in a secure holding account that can only be used for the purpose intended. It is not used for any other financial transactions.
The IKEA Gift List is hosted and managed by Voucher Express. Voucher Express employs Verified by Visa / MasterCard Securecode which allows guests to protect their credit cards used online by assigning a secret password. If your guests have joined one of these secure schemes they will be required to provide their password during the pledge process. Voucher Express has no knowledge of, or access to these passwords. To maintain secrecy the password is encrypted and is submitted directly to the card issuer, over a secure link, and does not get seen or stored by our systems.
